Day One – Kathmandu (D)

Make your own way to Kathmandu International airport, where we will meet you in airport arrivals and transfer you to the legendary Kathmandu Guest House in Themal. The rest of the day is free to relax or explore this amazing city.

Day Two – Kathmandu (B)

After breakfast, free day to explore Kathmandu.

Day Three – Kathmandu to Lukla and start Trek (B)

After an early breakfast at your hotel we drive west towards Pokhara and will arrive in Buldule with time for you to explore.

Day Four to Fourteen – Trekking (B) (L) (D)

For the first few days, we walk through lowland paddies and farms crossing many suspension bridges. We will see a number of different tribes, Tibetan traders, donkey trains and farmers tending their crops. On day seven we will trek for 8 to 9 hours and arrive at the village of Chame at an altitude of 2,713 meters.

After Chame, the forests become oak, pine and birch, the crops potato, wheat and corn, and the people predominantly Tibetan and Buddhist in origin. We will trek upwards past stone villages like Pisang where you will see prayer flags and possibly snow for the first time. On day ten we will have a rest day at the important trading village of Manang (3,351 meters) where the landscape becomes semi-desolate steep, bare hillsides.

We continue to trek uphill, experiencing even more barren terrain where water is often frozen while flowing down the cliff faces. On day eleven we spend the night at our highest camp (Churi Ledar 4,250 meters) which is the starting point for our ascent of the pass. After an early start (before sunrise) we will have the tough trek to the summit of Thorung La pass (5,416 meters) and see the magnificent view, and then start the descent on the Western side.

On day 14 we will trek down into the deepest river valley in the world (Kali Gandaki) to Jomson where we will start to feel we are back in the real world. Jomsom is the largest town we have seen for a while (it even has a post office so you can send your postcards home!). We will continue to walk down the valley through some beautiful, prosperous villages, the landscape seeming to get greener around each corner. The trek will end this evening.

Please Note, this is a hard adventurous trek. The total distance is 228km, and you will be walking from 6 to 10 hours each day. You will trek to an altitude of 5,416 meters so a good level of physical fitness is required. Porters will carry your luggage but you will have to carry a day pack with your water, camera etc.

Day Fifteen – Pokhara (B) (L) (D)

Today we will drive to Pokhara, but on route we will stop and visit Dhaulagiri Ice Fall, which still requires a good walk to visit the ice falls. Tonight we will stay in the relative luxury of a 2 start hotel in central Pokhara.

Day Sixteen – Pokhara (B)

You have a free day in Pokhara to shop and explore. This evening the group goes out in Pokhara to celebrate the
